Life is a contest that never ends, of course
And with every loss you wonder how’ll you’ll win
The overseers with their expectations
High to a lifetime
But what you give is so short
Here with all your nuisances that cling
You see your scrapes
You see your dumps
You see your cracks
Compared to people who seem a thousand feet tall
And you keep on losing
Keep on losing
Until you seem a thousand times small
Life is a contest that never ends, of course
Giving out mirrors you’ll always stare at until you’re gone
Mirrors that’ll give you struggle
Then strike
Until the rules of the contest
Move on.
