When POLARIS Literary Magazine Club meets, our Editor likes to have a literary game to “play.” ~Here are the results~

  1. I arrived home after school and there were muddy footprints leading to my front door. Who’s in my house? I grab my comically large bat as I slowly stalk around, looking to see if there is someone after me or plotting against me. I always had this lingering feeling, unsure of what was causing it. It was slowly turning my insides. I’m horrified by what could be the shocking cause. I heard a weird noise coming from the door. My heart was racing. My palms were sweating. It was a monster like no other covered in mud and plants!

  1. I blink open my eyes and realize… I’m in a cavern?! I see bright rubies and gold spread across the floor, leading me deeper inside into the tiny space. I can no longer breathe. This feeling was exhausting. I was panicking, calm, and shocked at the same time! This was wild, yet… exciting? I couldn’t exactly name the feeling that I felt. It was just… strange, somehow.

  1. A girl had a sick mother who never really liked begging. As for the girl, she loved getting bananas from trees. She would wait to get them just to taste their yumminess. But one day, she couldn’t eat it anymore. Something was off. She turned yellow! She looked like that Violet-whatever-girl from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Yet, she was in a strange shade of gold. This was different though. This was something sinister.

  1. I was fast asleep in my room one night, but then I got jolted awake by the shadow. The shadow has been hunting me ever since I was three years old. It was a new night, and I saw the shadow again. Its massive eyes were carving holes into my soul as I shivered. I kept my body tucked under my blanket, continuing this heinous routine. My body shivered in fear and suspense of what was to come. My once-warm body turned cold, like no soul was left inside. His eyes never stopped staring me down.
